Uma Shankar Medasetti, President of GSA

I am Uma Shankar Medasetti. I did my Bachelors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Andhra Pradesh, India and a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Bradley University, Illinois, USA. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Engineering and Applied Science with Mechanical Engineering Department  with primary focus in Robotics under Alba Perez. 

Research: I am currently focused on Agricultural Robots Research project. The project focuses on identifying sick plants and remove them in a potato field. Data is collected by drones while analysis and determination is done by robots on the field.  My area of focus is determine the grasping point of the plant in order to pull the sick plant with the roots. 

Student Organisations: I served a student representative for Graduate Students in GSAC(Graduate Student Advisory Committee) while pursuing my Masters at Bradley University. During my first year at ISU, I served as Outreach Coordinator for Graduate Student Association (GSA).  I am currently serving as senator for Graduate Studies(ASISU) and also serving as President of the Graduate Student Association(GSA) for the academic year(2019-20).
